Looking at Fall Inspiration

Originally published 10/4/2021, via email

We hope everyone really enjoyed the summer months. Some of you were even able to attend a quilt show. Many of your local quilt shops are now receiving new fabrics frequently and perhaps you have something special just waiting for a project!

Enjoy these fabulous projects from our readers!

Vicky used a fabulous bird panel and complimented it with bold blue and yellow accents. It is really a WOW. 41" x 60".

A digital quilt from Clothworks featuring Play Zone by Katie Webb Design. This fabric shipped during the summer. I hope you found it at your local shop. 41" x 60".

Heide created such a fun Halloween quilt with some creative custom fabric picks. 41" x 60". A bold print fabric for the corner graphic changes the looks!

Susie teamed up the bold scrolling music print with the special college yardage for a music major! The scrolling print makes the quilt look quite elegant! 41" x 60".

Clothworks did these Diva 3 digital quilts for the fabric line, A Dog’s Life by Dan DiPaolo. Shipping in November 2021. www.clothworks.com  42" x 61" Version #1.

Susie combined 2 yellows for the background fabric and 2 darks that are in the purple family which gave extra depth to the project. The batik fabric has little flecks of metallic which must be very lovely. Pictures just can’t capture all the subtle shadings! Quilted by Olde City Quilts. www.oldecityquilts.com

I made the blocks for my appearance on Sewing with Nancy. We used them to show different ways to lay out the blocks. During the pandemic’s early days I did some massive clearing out like many of you. Heide was gifted the blocks and she put them together into a great quilt. 12 – 18" blocks 54" x 72".

Quilted by Karen at [email protected] in a fabulous quilting design done with pink threads.

Enjoy the close up of the quilting.

Kay enjoyed using a strip roll of bright batiks for Jam Art. Quilt A.

36" x 40". She told us she wished that there had been a little more contrast but that she just loved the brightness of the batiks. I agree. Yes, the pattern does have side borders that are wider at the top than the bottom.

Laura stitched this fabulous BQ with Hearts. The heart block is a pattern from piecebynumber.com and that became her center square. So very spectacular. She said it was fun to use pink and red scraps for the hearts. Black grunge for the frames. Quilted by Susan at stitchedbysusan.com

Susie has been collecting bowling fabrics for so many years to celebrate her son’s bowling expertise through high school All State and during college.

Big cheering for Susie who has finished a Christmas gift in September!
