Summer Inspiration

Much has changed in the past 3 months and hats off to all of you who have been challenged in so many ways. We send our best wishes to all of you for a safe and successful summer.

We hope you find inspiration with the following projects.

Teresa sent us this BQ5 quilt with so much added inspiration. She cut up a panel of beach scenes, added extra frames to make the squares the correct size and added some 9 patch blocks to make enough blocks for the 20 block project. 54" x 67.5" pattern size. She also added a 1" finished blue border and those darling corner accents. Quilted by her friend Amy.

We were so excited to receive a box of Fat Quarters from Windham Fabrics with Marcia Derse’s upcoming line: The Blue One. We have been big fans of her work since the beginning. It is a great line of fabrics for our 2 newest patterns:

BQ DoubleTime and Splitz.

We used 2 colors from the Palette collection for the accent squares.

The fabric is due to ship in October 2020.

BQ DoubleTime is also a new project this spring. 18"x 27". This is the smaller size project. The center is the big focal print of the line, Totem. It absolutely looks pieced, doesn’t it! We used a fabric from the Palette collection for the frame and inner border.

So many of you have used Diva for panel projects; here the Totem center really makes a great statement.

Susie sent us this picture of a Christmas project she has completed during her stay at home time. She had this Christmas Owl fabric for a long time! It makes me smile. 14" x 30"

Here at Maple Island Quilts we had great plans for making 4th of July projects and we were off to a good start before getting distracted. We will have them finished before the 4th!

You might remember that one of my on going projects is emptying bins of projects. I haven’t made much of a dent, but the Slant project on the right was found in a bin of not quite completed projects. It is a custom size not in the pattern but based on the bonus pattern included. 31"x 42". Like many of you, sorting, straightening and tidying up the sewing area is taking longer than expected! Like a treasure hunt at times!

The BQ DoubleTime project is the largest size in the pattern 18" x 44".
