New Patterns and Inspiration

Originally published 3/11/2021, via email

We have 2 new patterns for you!

Because panels come in so many sizes, we wrote Diva 5 to accommodate 3 popular widths or yardage. 24" – 30" – 36" X 44". A graphic border puts all the focus on the panel. Easy to accomplish for most and a fun gift quilt.

The quilts finish at 41" x 60" (shown below and on the cover), 47" x 60" and 53" x 60".

The Play project is a digital quilt project from Clothworks. 41" x 60". The fabric line is Play Zone by Katie Webb Design. You can see the collection at www.clothworks.com.  The fabric will ship in Summer 2021. Such a fun project and fabric line.

Line Up is bold fun in a graphic format. So many quilters love to work in a single-color palette. Line Up lets you show your colors and add a sharp accent to keep the eyes moving.

2 block sizes, 13" and 6 ½".

Fat quarters or 6 ½" strips make it easy to look through your own collection. The block is built with a partial seam and a tutorial is in the pattern for those that need a reminder about partial seams.

The quilt is 45 ½" x 65".

We included a bonus table runner at our website, Idea#15. You need the pattern to make the table runner. Print it and tuck it into your pattern for safe keeping!

A Fat Quarter makes 1 of each block size. A 6 ½" strip makes 1 of each size.

A 3 ½" strip makes 2 of the small blocks.

Fabric: The Blue One by Marcia Derse for Windham Fabrics. www.windhamfabrics.net

We got stuck on blue! These fabrics are Allison Glass for Andover.

To visualize another color story, Susie worked in rich fall colors and varied the accent lines with contrast and shading but in the blue/green/teal family.

This is the table runner at the Idea #15 button. 17" x 36".

For more inspiration enjoy these quilts that were shared with us.
Talented quilters all!

Chris pieced and quilted this fun Avengers BQ4 project for a grandson. Notice there are just 2 center fabrics. The added blue border really echoes the blue in the print. 20 blocks. Well done!

Jill also used the BQ4 pattern and showed off the Tula Pink Linework fabrics. 20 blocks 60" x 72" and added a border. Using different color frames is a fun custom option! Great fabric line.

Candy did the piecing and the quilting on this eye catching Bent Pieces quilt. I do love a red/black and grey or white project! This project was in our first book, Cutting Curves from Straight Pieces (out of stock, check Amazon) and is available as single pattern. 47.5" x 71.5". Make it with 16 FQs including binding and border!

Bent Pieces MIQ135

Lynn pieced and quilted these two quilts. The bold gold and blue really catch the eye and set off the center fabric nicely. BQ2 12 blocks.

BQ2 MIQ965

Also from Lynn is this BQ3, a bright and cheerful project with hearts and flowers to make everyone feel happy! 20 blocks. Lynn does a lot of charity sewing. Lucky folks, right?!

BQ3 MIQ233

Margaret pieced and quilted a fun version of BQ with many custom changes. The Christmas fabrics had been saved for many years waiting for just the right pattern. A panel supplied the centers and a border print was used for the custom sashing and outer border. There is an extra wide red border around the blocks.

25 – 18" blocks plus sashing and borders. Queen size.

Margaret pieced this lemon quilt and Becky did the machine quilting. Margaret mixed 2 sizes of the BQ block and chose a polka dot for the frames. A great look.
